(Yes, I'm consolidating these 3 pages into one. Sorry!)
I'm a full-time freelance designer/developer/karaoke-er who makes websites, drawings, designs and the sporadic wedding cake in Vancouver.
Along with having red hair, I hold a Bachelor of Media Arts from Emily Carr University. My last salary job was an Interactive Art Director at an ad agency, and I DJ karaoke at a dive bar every week.
When it comes to design, I believe in simplicity and efficiency... hence why I've kept this assessment site as low-key as possible.
When it comes to life, I believe in biking, singing loudly to bad music, and plenty of whiskey.
I'd like to join the JavaScript and jQuery group because I'm pretty ace at HTML/CSS, but my js skills are lacking. I'd like to be able to write efficient js without having to constantly look up what I want to do, and to also have a better idea of what I can do in the first place.
Having volunteered as a mentor at several into-level Ladies Learning Code workshops, I'd like to keep improving my skills so I can also teach more advanced courses. Another goal I have is to become an instructor in the Interactive program at Emily Carr University (my Alma Mater), so I can help increase the art-world female-coder count.
Most of my work can be found on my portfolio. I like to work in many different mediums, exemplified by the fact that a few yet-to-be-released projects include a book cover, a music video, and branding for a craft brewery. (You know, in addition to the multiple sites I'm currently working on.)
Much of my work, a lot of which is pro-bono, involves branding and site design/development for local small businesses, groups and arts organizations... people that I feel need high-calibre collateral but usually lack the funding.
